These electromechanical mortise locks are primarily used in the exterior doors of apartment houses and residential buildings, and interior doors of commercial premises.
The mortise lock features a new kind of symmetrical, double action, durable and easy to use trigger bolt, and provides a cost effective electric locking solution that has a number of advantages over e.g. an electric strike.

The lock can be controlled by a card reader, keypad or timer. The lock can be connected to an automatic swing door operator and is an excellent solution for use with access control systems.
Frame mounting above the door is also possible.
Because of its unique symmetrical trigger bolt ABLOY® el404 can also be used in swing doors.

Fail locked or fail unlocked, alterable operation. With fail locked operation, under voltage, the door can be opened by pushing or pulling. In case of fail unlocked use this can be done while not being under voltage.
Mechanically, through the profile cylinder or by thumbturn the door can always be opened. The lock deadlocks automatically when the door closes.

Cannot be used in fire rated doors.
In case of swing doors, deadlocking is performed only when the door is completely closed.
